BUG: Save game function broken
« on: 19 September 2010, 17:41:13 »
I'm using GAE under Ubuntu 10.4.

I'm trying to save a game. The window appears, I type a filename and click "save", but then when I hit "Load game", the list of files is still empty. I searched game directories and didn't find any savegame files, so it probably doesn't save at all.

What type of game are you trying to save? It matters, since if you are trying Scenarios it won't work.

A normal singleplayer game, not scenario.

Hmm, to double check, have you checked both save game folders (I seem to have 2 for some reason). There's one in your personal folder (ie: Your Name/glestadv, on WinVista/7, it's C:\Users\user name\glestadv) as well as one in the installation directory (by default %PROGRAM FILES%\glestae 0.3).

If one of the folders has a file in it, you can try copying it to the other. It may be a bug. I'll test the save game in a moment.

EDIT//
Hmm, you must actually manually create the 'savegame' folder in your personal documents and move that saved game from the save game folder in your install directory in order for it to be recognized... But when I finally got the save recognized, it saved the save was a "bad save" and crashed upon attempting to load. I'm renaming this topic as a bug so Silnarm can see. It may require a ticket.

I found the savegame files. They are neither in the personal folder (/home/username/.glestadv), nor in the installation folder (/usr/share/glestae), but in /home/username/savegame. I copied the folder to /home/username/.glestadv and I get the same as you: "Bad save" and crash. The "Bad save" message features also a path that doesn't exist (/home/james/<something>, there's no user account called 'james' on my computer).

James is silnarm's name. It appears he has a slight path boo-boo.

Yep, it would appear to be another PhysFS related path problem, but I have no idea how my home directory got hardcoded into it

Ticket #179. Thanks.
