I have seen that in many threads are wishes how to improve the game. A few suggestions are in two or more threads so that the glest-team must answer the same gustion two times. This is the reason why i made this thread. You can post your wishes here. It would be nice if the glest team could comment on the wishes.

I start with the wishes i have found into the board:

 -walls
-sea units
-more buildings
-a third nation

greetings t0ph

p.s. i know my english is bad;)

This was a good idea. Maybe sometime it would be worth the effort to make a bugzilla?
Anyway, this si my whishes, original from
Code: [Select]
this thread.

Extensive hotkey framework.
One should be able to build every building with hotkey's, and when a building is marked you should be able to build every type of fighter/people.
And hotkeys to mark people/building. Here it is maybe good to seperate military/civ and unit/building. So a combination of the military-key and the unit-key wil select military units.
A "all" key is also a good idea. So a combiantion of Military-key, building-key and all-key would select all military buildings on the screen. But maybe it is a better idea to have that as default, and instead have a "one" key (to tab through individual units/buildings)?
When you have selected different buildings you should be able to build units from both buldings (e.g building options from both builings should show on the right side).
Combined with uniq hotkeys for different units you get a very fast unit production:
Build military builings so that you have all types in one screen - Select all military buildings (with hotkey) - Build all kind of units.

Waypoints.
You should be able to use a key, e.g shift, to create waypoints for the unit. This helps the situation where they sometimes walk the wrong way to a place. With waypoints you can just show them the route. So they move from waypoint to waypoint untill they reach the last one.

Formations.
Beeing able to select a group of wariors and select different formations. Archers behind, sword in front.

"Bookmarks".
What I think about here is the posibility to bookmark a current place in the map, and unit/bulding selection (not to create groups, as I understand that it is already implanted).
E.g you have a location where you have all your military buildings. And you have a battelfield. Then you can select all the military buildings, and set a bokmark (maybe ctrl-alt-x? where x i a number 0-9. Then set a bookmark at your battelfield. So then all you need to do to switch is to press the numbers you bookmarked them to (maybe with alt-x?)
With good hotkeys you can then fight, press a hotkey to get back to the military production area, press hotkey to produce fighters, press hotkey to get back to fight.

Patrol.
Beeing able to set wariors to patrol an area.

Guard.
It would be nice to be able to set a group of wariors to guard
 -Buldings
 -Other wariors
It should be possible to ask them to guard a group of these, and not only one unit/bulding (think sword protecting archers).

Select idle civilian.
Find thos lazy builders.

Moving in groups
When you have selected a group and riht click somewhere they should go there. They should then go there together, no fast units running away from the slow ones.
If you right-double-click then all the units should go there as fast as they could. Still in a formation, but then only in formation with those units that has the same speed as they.

Some AI tweaks
*If the archers are figthig side by side with sword-menn, in close combat, make them move backwords, so they have some distance to the one they are shooting at.
*Make the sword-men protect the archers if they get atacked in close range, then sword-men close should turn away from their enemy and kill the close-combat unit that is killing the archer. (if you implent the Guard feature this could be left out).

And your english is better than mine ;)

Patrol , savegame , some hotkeys , waypoints , visionshare , guard , MULTIPLAYA.

Suggestion: Walls : Can be done in 2 ways.
1. Make a block or like a tank block used in the WW, can be 1 or 2 size.
2. Make two tipes of wall lines, one horizontal and one vertical, so if you want to build a vertical "GreatWall" use the vertical walls , same with horizontal.

EDIT - PS: tell me how to upload an image and i'll show what I mean (wall suggestion)
The image is here E:/___wall.jpg

I told my friends about this good game. So they tried it out.

There opinion was:
-It gets boring, because it takes long time and they can save their games.
-It almost needs an own "powersource"
-They can't play it in lan or on internet

!!!!!!!!It' the same opinion always!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You guys ever thought of a forum-meeting? I think it'll be great to see the faces behind the keyboards. Unless of course you prefer your keyboard over your face.. :-)

Walls would be great, i think it won'T take long to create some, would it?
But i'm a not into this kind of programming....

I meant it not this way.

BUt did you ever play Warcraft 3? The nightelves have ghosts, wich have a symbioses with trees.....so they can get wood.
I thought too thought about wolfs forces and big eagles, fighting for them...
somthing like that, but treants are good, i think....  ;)

Rather then making a third race I rather see that the two we got is worked on to make em larger and maybe more balanced (Thought I think they are already)

I would like to see that you could specify how to start out "one worker only" "small army (like now, standard)" and you should start with less wood and stone!! A magic player can build all buildings without collecting any stone or wood, only needs stone for some upgrades and mana supplys.

And ofcourse MULTIPLAYER. atleast start with a mode where you have to know the ip of the player you wish to fight but when time is given you should aim for a system much like Battle.net or wesnoth official server.

well, my suggestions are in this post:
Code: [Select]
http://www.glest.org/board/viewtopic.php?t=1082 i also think that the better way to balance the game in it's actual state(magic stronger than tech), is to build a third faction, wich will always defeat magic and always be deafeated by tech, like:

magic takes tech, tech takes the new faction, and the new faction takes magic

pretty simple.

Well
First. hallo.

Then, there is only two things that i think the game realy NEEDS:

1) Save game*
2) The abillety fore a flying unit to land, anf to fly again (Fx the dragon of the Magic faction, beaing able to fly and spreed fire, or land and make mass destruction with its claws and jaws.

nr 2, is mostly of two reasons 1, it isent uset that mouch. and 2, its IS a realy nice featur.

Just my opp.

Deva.

Ps. sry fore my englich.

i agree with multi-player and save game features. As for a 3rd side, well i think like a nature side would be real cool. A side that uses nature magic but has melee troops would be real cool. Like have druids and things who also can heal friendly troops and things but have, lets say rangers and elementals to fight. Only thing is a rock-paper-scissors would really suck having one side to just own another. Oh, and if you do make a third side that is like nature ideas like druids, YOU CANNOT CALL IT NATURE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or you will kill the game and imma have to slap somebody  :P

You should really do a multiplayer game mode. Attleast a network one, but internet would be good too.

I don't understand why people want you to make a third side, just expand the existing ones a little (larger techtree).

And it would be a lot better if you could "share vision with your allies".
