There is obviously a difference from a noob and a newb.
Haha, well we don't mean offensively.
That's good to hear, but Zoy should just use "newb" since that's what it's mean for...

Anyways, good luck, I hope you guys will still release later.

If you're going to forbid Eliminator to work on anything else Glest related, then IMO I think he shouldn't help. Right now I think fixing his mods would be more important...and other things.

Ultifd, it is no small thing integrating someone in as a core team member, they have to download all the Constellus Team sourcefiles, get set up on skype, get to know the team. We're gonna take a few days to see if anyone else would like to join. It'd be unfair to others to pick the first person to volunteer.

So does this mean that the Phorin are still included in Constellus, but will be made by someone else?  Or does it mean that Hands is going to continue making the Phorin on his own?

No, I'm going to just leave and let them do their own thing.
Although they were my original idea, Zoythrus Helped a lot planing them in the early days and I wouldn't feel right taking them for myself. Plus I don't want to see the mod end like that.

Communication error?

Well, making the mod just became not fun. When pretty much everything started turning into debates and less work was getting done... I could just feel it wasn't working. I'm deeply sorry though, and I will miss working with them but the end result just wouldn't work.
I have promised to finish the art for the Crincillin though, so they WILL get done. I just won't be "on the team" anymore. I'm not going to leave all the work I started unfinished; but after that, I will leave.

Why not go open source?  Solicit help finishing it, with all donations of time, models, remodelling, textures, discussion etc welcome, however small and fleeting and even if not finally used?

All this talk of teams and jobs and dedication is precisely not teamwork, its more like kids gangs.

I like wills idea, with model and animation donations and stuff, you can still have your team and skype chat but people will be able to help you no matter what. You decide what gets in and what doesn`t.

Well, it IS open source, they're just trying to do it professionally.

Plus, I bet that wouldn't work well... I mean dark magic barely got though, if they just hoped for people to randomly give them models I don't know how long the project would take....

For christ sake, use both, it is not purely black and white, let people contribute AND have your organization.

we like this dedicated team idea because it works. i like dedication so i dont have to beg people for more models/work. and also, just begging would make me feel like im some homeless beggar asking for donations. if you want to join us, just ask (and make sure you arent doing any other project).

This mod is totally not open source.
Dark Magic was actually OK, the main problem was just with Modman IMO...I don't think that would happen with Zoy.
I think the main problem with open source is with the attitude, with DM it was OK to have different views; but with Constellus I don't know...and possibly other things.
Honestly guys, besides Eliminator I don't think much people will want to help. In the case of Elim, if you're limiting him to only this mod then he shouldn't even help. Try recruiting outside of Glest, I think you would find more luck out there.

 Yep, this isn't an engine or something; like Glest, MG, or GAE.

Dark Magic's biggest downfall was a lack of organization and leadership, which was largely my fault.  A small team with clearly defined roles and responsibilities would have probably finished it much more quickly and with higher quality than our "if somebody wants to pitch in, that would be awesome" methodology.  I'm working on something behind the scenes and it's pretty casual, but I like for everyone to be on the same page and know what's going on.

i like dedication so i dont have to beg people for more models/work. and also, just begging would make me feel like im some homeless beggar asking for donations.
This.  With Dark Magic, it was like the whole time I was asking, "Hey, can anybody help out and do this?  Please?  Anybody?  No?"

That doesn't really apply to Constellus, as they have their main team which always supports them though...   If Constellus was somewhat open source, I would image them as still having a main team but the community would just help them on some parts that they would need help with...

Personally I find the whole team modding thing to big waste of time. I was on a couple of mod teams before I started working with Glest. The beauty of Glest is that it allows a single person to make a TC game by themselves (especially if you know how to model before you start  ;) )

<rant>
In my experience mod teams spend more time discussing/arguing about what they are going to make than actually making it! Also people often end up redoing work because someone else doesn't like it, then somebody disappears and takes their work with them, then somebody changes somthing crucial and the whole thing starts again. Mod teams lack the authority structure of a real game studio and so instead of being told what to do by the boss everyone gets to have their say which results in chaos. If a mod "leader" tries to take command and tell people what to do eventually you get "artistic differences" and people start walking.
</rant>

The bottom line is if you want to make a mod for Glest you need to be prepared to do it yourself start to finish. If somebody comes along and wants to chip in a bit of help or advice then fine, but you shouldn't plan to rely on anyone else for your mod.

P.S Constellus team, I would love for you to prove me wrong so lets see what you can do  :)

P.P.S This is getting a bit off topic  :|

this is exactly why i have this team. we are supposed to discuss/argue about things so that we can find a better way of doing things. sometimes, my team members see things that i may have overlooked, so it's great to have people to talk about things with.

i truly am opposed to the idea of doing this all by myself, not because im lazy or anything, but because i need more than just my opinion on something. the thing about having people contribute to the mod is that they'll make a model or a tex and just leave. i dont need people who leave, i need people who will give their opinions and thoughts on stuff, so we can make one awesome game.

No offense, but you could do all of that with being partially open source.  Maybe even more...

Guys, we can handle this. We started mostly open source, and built ourselves into a dedicated team. I was approached to do a few things, then I got hooked into the team. I mean the first few animations I did weren't very good, since I've joined the team I've done 99% of the animation.
This dedicated team idea works very well, and we want to do a quality mod, quality mods are very hard to do without a few somewhat dedicated people at the least working on it.

Because Psychedelic Hands will be finishing the work on the Crincillin, we don't really need a new team member until we start the Phorin(after the Crincillin Beta).

@Ultifd: Da boss just grabbed the latest version straight outta development, packaged it and sent it too you, I mean it wasn't really prepared properly(sorry bout that). What's your problem exactly?
