How to install dark magic as a faction

well i download dark magic and how the hell do i play glest with dark magic as a faction?

You put it in a techtree usually, so put it in magitech or megapack, etc...

It's actually
MG, Standard Glest, or GAE /techs/techtree(magitech, megapack, etc)/dark magic
Unless you put it in mydata or the addons for GAE, but that's unneeded for now...

You use Megaglest, right?  Find a folder called "megapack".  Inside that, there is a folder called factions.  Put "dark magic" inside "factions".  Dark Magic should now be available to you when you start a game.

Hmm, I just got reminded that mydata is supposed to be for anything that is non-standard... but I'm still kinda confused on how to use it, for factions at least.

Please try to search the wiki as well, before you ask a question here. Many of the questions are answered in the wiki. The above page, for example, explains all about archives and the folder structure for installing mods (I haven't updated it for the GAE addons folder yet, better do that soon, and I don't really use MG, so no clue about the mydata folder).
