I like how you aren't obligated to vote in America. In Australia you have to, which means the people who don't know anything about politics vote 

Hmm.... I think that voting should be totally optional. Sure, we end up with only subliminal turnover rates, but at least this way, only the people who know what they're doing (I've heard of people who just randomly voted because they had no clue about what was going on) will vote.

I disagree. While sure I think some of us (like me!) are suitable for voting, the vast majority of the people I know are totally clueless about politics, and would fall into the "vote on candidate who's poster they saw last" category.
