CPU vs CPU (without Human)
« on: 28 November 2010, 11:20:04 »
Hi,
I don't know whether it is a bug or a game type that we can select CPU players only. Indeed when I close the Human item in the menu, it appears in the previous (or available) dropdown menu, which means I cannot start the game without the Human player. Actually it will be interesting to watch AI vs AI.

To play without Human, you can close all menu items at first and select CPU and CPU only (may be a bug?). What is surprising at that game is Human player is automatically assigned to the 1st player and while the CPU's playing you have the ability to intervene it. That is, CPU and Human players play the same faction collaboratively. However CPU's commands are dominant and the Human player is less effective.

Are all these planned or do you plan a game type such as Human vs Human or AI vs AI, etc.?

Best wishes,
Ali

It's a bug that you can trick the ui to start such a game. The funny thing is that it's actually playable. I'm not aware of any plans in this direction but it would be quite nice control one faction with multiple players. In the good old starcraft times i liked to play with my brother together as one player. Was especially nice for learning the gameplay. Two mice are quicker than one and so one wasn't smashed by the first rush of the AI. I'm really missing this feature from newer RTS games (they even remove LAN nowadays).

You can also start a game with more than one player set as "human". :|

Agreed Yggdrasil, on all points, and SC was the best RTS ever made :)

It is cool this, playing with more than one human on one faction could be interesting, aswell maybe we can increase numbers of how many players are availiable, since 4v4 2p on 1 faction = 8v8 or even 16v16!

As nice as this was, the loophole is now closed, as it was also possible to crash the new game menu with it.

The multiple controller thing would be very nice, I too have very fond memories of playing Starcraft co-op (except when my friend used our only drone to make an extractor!).

And the usefulness for observing the AI is rather obvious.

Will open a ticket.

Ticket #295.

I've set the target to 0.5 simply because I have too many other things I need to do for 0.4. If anyone else wants to take it though, feel free to change the milestone.
