I look forward to playing the full mods with the extensive list od units

But i'd also very much like to play the abridged Mr War suggestion, which is more paper-rock-scissors?

Could you do both approaches woth the common artwork?

I have an idea for a faction, after I watched an awesome movie called Mongol. The Mongols looked really cool in the movie; so I thought I'd suggest it I'll be expecting it made by the end of next month or else!  >:(
I trust everyone will drop what they are doing and get to work right away!
As a side note: I just got a letter that says I have jury duty :(

Edit by Omega: Removed annoying color tags.

I know this is probably a bad idea, but how about tying in Pirates of the Caribbean? Not the entirety of it, more of the basics. For example, an East India Trading Company Faction, A Brethren Court Faction. That's it, just those two. For units, EITC gets nothing above a Leuitenant. The Brethren (Pirates), their commander could be Jack Sparrow. Mm, on second thought, I don't know what I'm thinking. Can this even be done? I mean seriously, nothing big and over the top. Just the most simplistic representation of those two factions. Ya'll get back with me on this, I need to think.

A "strange" proposal:

In H.G.Wells's "The War of the Worlds", an alien invasion was portrayed in a 1800 setting. Can make sense a... "medieval" setting, where knights and magicians fight against a overpowered alien force? In other words: can make sense a third faction, balanced with Magitech, composed of aliens?

Your more than welcome to! Were you planning on making the aliens from scratch? if so jsut keep in mind that aliens are a popular idea.  There are MANY mods about aliens/martians including the Green Dawn faction which is inspired by War of the worlds + early scifi movies of the 1940-50s: https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=7021.0

Hi everyone!

I am new to this forum but not new to the game. Glest is one project in which the power of Open Source is really harnessed.

I came across a webcomic that tells the story of a few races of aliens interacting together and within themselves. I can see that a lot of thought has been put into the design of the different species and their social structures. They even have a wiki filled with articles about the different races. the comic is called carpechaos and until now they introduced three different races. the Porg, the Turikasuul, and the Kaean each with their own unique homewrold.

here is a link to the wiki and the comic it self

I think that the big differences between the species would make for great game dynamics and good creative story lines.

in this image the Porg is in the center two Turikasuul on the sides and a scared Kaean at the top

in this one two Turikasuul fight

they even have spaceship designs and other stuff on deviant art

sorry for gigantic post

Welcome to the forums, Mansoor. Thank you for your suggestion, though, if I may make a suggestion myself, why not join us hordes of brainless zombies modders and make it yourself? You'll find plenty of resources on the Glest Guide and the Glest Wiki

Definitely somthing I would like. thanks for the links these should help :)

I am familiar with Blender and I have a friend who is excellent in modeling and animation using Blender.

but I do not want to start a project while in the middle of two. I am actually working on another Open Source project at the moment. If someone starts this however I will help them.  :)

Just wanted to check back here and see if anyone has taken my idea into consideration, as far as if it's possible to do. EITC army vs Brethren Court (a.k.a the pirates) would be neat.

If you want a mod made, you're going to have to make it yourself.

Cold war turns hot WW3 in 1970s. T-64 tanks race across central Europe. Three sides: USA, USSR and British? Semi realistic with models based on real types etc, but with something of a CnC feel and glest tech tree

If you were to start such a mod, I'd pitch in, though I think China should be in there somewhere

if I had time i would but I'm already committed to the SciFi pack. I was imagining something a bit like Red Alert but slightly more realistic in terms of unit choices.

I think Heli's should be divided from Planes. Also 25lb and the 5.5" are weapons that served in the same time period.

Yes that's why I put mk5. Filling the British artillery row was hard because they used WW2 stuff right up to 1990s. Can u think of any better fits?
