Norton antivirus blocks latest megaglest beta download as insufficient users or some such nonsense

Norton is annoying and I trust megaglest but aNyone else experienced that?

I never use Norton, it always seemed to act more like a virus than an anti-virus. It constantly popped up messages trying to get me to register/buy the product and was damn near impossible to clean off my computer since some files were in a hidden OEM partition (thanks linux!).

Norton is overprotective, why people with no interest in computers or any computer knowledge at all thinks that it is so good and that it always blocks stuff. Just you wait till it blocks your precious facebook apps..

Please provide a screen shot of the message. Please also provide the exact name of the Norton software you have installed, as well as both the anti virus softwares' version number and the version number/date of last update of the virus detection patterns. Finally, please also provide the exact name of the file you tried to download or install, and which website you downloaded it from.
Last but not least, we need the exact Windows version number.

MegaGlest 3.4.0 is now out. Please try this version, too.

That's your problem there buddy: Norton is a very bad idea. Uninstall it (I never had any problems with it reoccurring after uninstallation) and use a free alternative. I recommend Avast.

Hi, it was 3.4.0. I switched off Norton "File Intelligence" and downloaded it - playing it now

I don't know the windows version number but it's Vista Home Premium

Ugh...Norton?  
Probably the same problem as with AVG...can't remember the exact details but I'm pretty sure.
IMO you should get another AV thought, even the free ones are better _(AVAST!)
EDIT: Turns out Norton says applications are threats if they aren't popular with the Norton community...

I assume their detection will no longer consider this site malicious now, can you just try again? For reference, here's the URL you were downloading from:

For what it's worth, all the established providers of such lookup services think this is not a malicious site.

By the way, what you downloaded is not a beta version but the latest stable release (but this must be what you tried to download then, since the beta was never on this host).
