[(p) fixed] Choppiness in current svn
« on: 20 February 2011, 03:14:48 »
Somehow we have trouble with cross platform games again. While 3.4.0 was fine beside the morph bug mentioned here, current svn is not.

We are now looking for the revision where this bug was introduced:
1. We have reports/made tests about 1703, 1708 to work , ( but thats not 100% shure yet ).
2. We have reports/made tests that 1721 is already buggy!
3. We also had an out of sync in 1712 already, but thats really nothing for shure, becasue we had Magic in thsi game too

Please reverify revision 1708 to be stable and 1721(or 1712) to be buggy!

What setup is needed to test:
- you must play cross platform multiplayer to find the bug ( windows/linux !  linux32/linux64 does not always raise it !)
- you should only use indians as faction becasue they have no morph command ! ( was fixed in revision 1726  )

Perhaps try the latest svn rev to see if it corrects the out of synch bug (performance is choppy but we can work on that if the out of synch is out of the way).

If not back to looking at 1708 and 1712 verification

Well, I don't think it'll get out of synch anymore on SVN HEAD, but it is a bit choppy.
No out of synch, but choppyness indeed.

Ok, I noticed the choppiness too.. I will hunt this down, the out of synch I think was caused by some changes to morphing then, this was the only change i made to the last svn checkin. The choppiness was likely related to something I did trying to find the out of synch so now I must find where.

The choppiness seems to be gone with r1765:

<tomreyn> ultifd: it no longer was choppy now, was it?
<Nebososo> it felt smooth here
<tomreyn> yes, for me, too
<ultifd> idk
<ultifd> I left it on for a long long time
<ultifd> and it was super choppy
<ultifd> but I guess that was normal

Actually, I think it's just improved (for me), I guess I'll have to do some more tests to find out. (Because in the beginning of the game my FPS was already not "full" (Usually 75) It was like 60[40]...So not sure.
