First of all, you're talking about GAE; right? Please be more specific...

In your home directory there is a glestadv folder; in there, there is an ini that let's you change the render width and height - set them to 1024 and 768 respectively, and set it to windowed=true

Now see if gae displays properly?

Hello there!

I've got the same problem running GLEST 3.2.2 (normal) on Windows 7 64bit.
My graphic card is a GeForce GTX 480M, newest driver installed.

As CPU is an Intel Core i7 Extreme with 3,2 GHz (no overclocking) working.
Could you help here?

Thanks so far.  :(

EDIT: I've tried every tipp I found within here until now. Perhabs you got something?

Try GAE. The original Glest is dead.

Perhabs better one! :)
Another question: Do you make use of the windows registry? I don't like garbage files when deinstallation is completed.  :P

Glest itself does not use the registry. It couldn't, after all, being cross-platform (only windows has the registry system). However, the installer will probably use the registry to ensure that you can uninstall all files properly, and those registry keys should be removed when uninstalling.

I don't think Glest does, but if you want to make sure it doesn't; use Revo Uninstaller.

Thanks, I've installed "Megaglest" and it's working.
Had a good tutorial fight.

Only for interest: The shadows looks nice, but when zooming out and in it seems they're computed only in a special area around the camera?
Also the map disappears when moving around, I mean the backwarded tiles. Is there something I could change in the settings?

Even if not: Very very cool game, good engine. Thanks for this little diamond!  :)

Increase the max render distance in the INI.

Thanks for the tipp!  :D
By the way, it's worth noting that this will cause it to rendered things further from the camera, so if it's very high and you tilt the camera, you may experience lag, as it renders *everything* in that direction, which can be an aweful lot. Nothing for shadows though. I'd really like a shadow distance option, but it sadly does not (yet) exist.

Make sure your graphics card is up to date, it's the most common source of problems. Shall it be, please post more information about your computer, including RAM, processor, graphics card, resolution, operating system, and the version of GAE.

I'm using glest adavance engine 3.2 and my spec are Keningston 4gb ram NVIDIA GTX 260M i7 quad 1.60ghz 1st Generation my screen is 900p (1600x900) 60hz windows 7 premium 64bit. let me know if i missed something out. i downloaded the NEW NVIDIA drivers and etc. nothing i still get the black screen of death. i reconf the file to set it at 900p res but no luck. i lowered it and windowed it and nothing. i think GAE needs and engine to work for 64bit. but mega glest works thought

It's not windows 64 bit that's the problem, I have the exact same and it works fine. In fact, everything except the graphics card and processor is the same, even the resolution; so I'm guessing it's the card itself that's the issue, though I'm not a dev; all more experienced views take priority over mine :O.

Can you please see if there is any content in the various log files (glestadv.log; glestadv-error.log, etc) in the same folder as the INI and post them here (don't bother if they're empty; which is possible, since GAE isn't crashing, it's failing to display anything, if I understand correctly).

*Waits for Silnarm to notice this topic*
