This report is unlikely to help us identify an issue (if there is one), it's more a reminder that we need to check what can be wrong there, if anything.

Quote from: MG_Uncle_933
i installed the beta version but it was broken (linux 64 bit). when i launched it, there popped a dialogue saying something ... about a tileset beginning with a letter A and something about duplicating it. I uninstalled it because i was not able to figure out what to do

Re-reading this report it may well have been that Uncle was connecting to a 3.5.0 server and was given a tileset download prompt in english language, which, I think, is not native to him.

I guess we need translations soon.

If a user with previous data from an older version has a tileset (like meadow for example) in the userdata area, and the name now exists in the default game data, there is an error shown at startup and the game exits. We d o no default change for tilesets and techtrees, we do however rename duplicate maps (using the word custom).

This might be his problem but without having hte exact output we cannot know for sure.

Right, this was exactly his problem:

While trying to fix it while keeping his old data he ran into a similar issue:

This error message is really not that helpful. Maybe we can provide a more user friendly message there, including hints on how to proceed?

Finally, after reinstalling 3.5 to a new directory and renaming ~/.megaglest to ~/.megaglest.orig this issue was fixed.
