Quick, random question if I may ask. Why is the Linux versions so much bigger than the Windows versions (the 32 bit linux version is almost 30% larger, nearly 50MB)? Admittingly, I have not downloaded it, for obvious reasons, so this is just a curiosity. I would expect the data to be the same, after all, and that would make up the majority of the filesize... Is the compression formats different?

It's before than I expected.
I just recently downloaded MegaGlest 3.5.0 beta 2.
The new version is always good.

Hmm...I know my internet is slow, but this is ridiculous. Does SF always download at single digit speeds? At this rate, it'll take 5-6 hours, provided it doesn't stop before it finishes. :-X

In fact, this is my 3rd attempt so far, though I suppose disabling the antivirus shields to see if it downloads faster may have been the cause of one of the failures (it doesn't, by the way).

Took me 10 minutes I think. It's a bit slow today, compared to 15 hours ago...

There is not (one) "sourceforge" when it comes to downloads. Sourceforge.net cooperates with several institutions and companies across the globe which provide the download mirrors. If your download is slow, you may have caught a mirror which is currently slow. Just select another download mirror in this case.

For an example, here's all the mirror servers for the Windows installer. Obviously it does make sense to pick one which is geographically near you (but this also happens on automatic mirror selection).

The file size differences relate to a few things:

a) Windows installer uses nsis and I think it lzma compression is very high and does a very good job
b) The Linux installers uses mojosetup, using xz compression (lzma2 also) but bundle some .so dependencies to try to make for greater success on the many Linux variants that users have out there.

I've taken a quick look at the forum posts in a couple of threads but I can't seem to find the megaglest-data 3.5.0 tarball.  Is it being re-uploaded to sourceforge.net?

Edit: Never mind.  I see it now.

Yes an OS X build would be nice. But this is really a different topic.

Once 3.5.1 is released, I'll "submit" MG to CNET!  :D (They somehow accepted my bogus account)
What's a good description of the MG Team though? First I have to create that too.
