Hi all.

Megaglest v3.5.0, Win7 x64 no SP
Hardware:
Intel Core 2 Duo T5600 1,83GHz
ATI Mobility Radeon X1700 (with official drivers provided with OS, no support for this model on ATI website anymore)
4 GB RAM (2.87GB usable)
Screen resolution: 1024x768 (windowed)

Issue description:

When some particular tileset is loaded (like autumn, winter) trees look like single sticks with no branches and no leaves. What is strange, leaves appear when I make the view closer to trees (z buffer issue?). Appears in any lighting mode I choose from game menu. This issue was NOT present in v3.4.0

[UPDATE]
Tilesets, which cause problems:
autumn, evergreen, hell (some "trees" cannot be seen, I see only floating heads), spring, winter
Tilesets, which do not cause problems:
darkforest, desert2, fernland, forest, jungle, karningul, meadow, mediterrainean, pinepeat, scrubland, winterforest.
[/UPDATE]

If possible we need to get the latest svn rev compiled and tested on this video card (rev #2171) and add this to glestuser.ini:

Code: [Select]
EnableATIHacks=true
Thanks

Yes, VC++ 2008 EE is perfectly fine.

Please try this compiled binary located at:

http://www.soft-haus.com/glest/temp/megaglest3.5.1_i386_win32_bin.exe

Please try and set the following in glestuser.ini:

Code: [Select]
EnableATIHacks=true
Thanks

OK, I ran the self extract, put the line in glestuser.ini file located in C:\Users... path and then I ran it like this glest_game.exe --verbose >> file2.txt. Stick trees are not solved. I turned MapPreview on and tried custom game. The preview was so big that it almost covered the whole window and slowed down my CPU. I could not choose "Abort" button, because it was covered by the Preview. I turned the game off using X in top right.

File content and the screenshot:

Hope it helps in any way :)

As was discussed on IRC (with softcoder), the cause here is surely a broken graphics driver. It even breaks basic functionality such as full screen display.

Possible steps:

* Upgrade to the latest available Windows service pack (Windows 7 SP1)

* Try to find a fixed graphics driver: if you cannot find an updated stable release for your specific GPU then try using an updated version of the driver which has been patched for compatibility to your GPU, or try an older version of the driver.

* Check again with MegaGlest 3.4.0 and report whether these issues also occur there.

I have downloaded just the exe file of 3.4.0 version and run it. No stick-trees, no mappreview problem:
http://megaglest.pzt.me/89o9
http://megaglest.pzt.me/2kp2
http://megaglest.pzt.me/9j61

The only strange thing is that I cannot exit the started game by pressing Esc :P so I closed the window. Probably because it is 3.5.0 install not 3.4.0 :P

Btw it IS possible to run 3.4.0 3.5.0 and 3.5.1-dev in one installation :)
