Cannons and Navies

Well, I gave it a shot. The idea is still on the table if ever you change your minds. Regardless of this outcome, I will go ahead and make that 'Glest' section. Just cause I'm a nice guy and all. =)

Now speaking of Glest, I successfully installed her onto a school PC, (after hours of course) and played the first tutorial. I must, say this RTS is just....wonderful. It's simple to learn, play, and it's not over-loaded with too much detail. The game reminds me of LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth II (xbox 360) in the sense of control set-up and the execution of commands to units. I do have only one question about the game. Well, actually two.

1. Is there any mods for cannons (seige cannons)?
2. Omega's signature has info regarding a mod for a military version of Glest (?)
It says naval units, I love navies. How would I go about getting this mod and that game?

Finally, I have one concern with Glest 3.2.2. It seems that when I move units around the map, they sometimes go another direction. Not with my orders though. Is there a bug with movement?

1. Cannons is a pretty arbitrary term. You could consider the airship to have a cannon, or such as Military's Tank.

2. Naval units, aka: water units, are only possible in GAE. How to use: https://docs.megaglest.org/GAE/Water_units Naturally, you'll need a bit of modding experience to use them. Existing mods with water units include Military and Imperial.

Have you tried Mega Glest or any of the custom mods people have made? (they may have some stuff you want).

Omega: Well, if by Mods you mean add-ons, I've installed such in the past for a game called MSTS (Microsoft Train Simulator), unless you're talking about something entirely different, then I don't think I'll be able to use Mods. I know this about me, I don't seriously game on PCs. But, I want to change that, as I tire of console gaming.

ElimiNator: Nope, I have not. So far, I've only done a tutorial on Glest 3.2.2, and that proved rather fun. I do note the whole day/night lighting change is kind of bothering my eyes. It makes the screen darken a bit often, and that constant day-night shift....well my eyes can't seem to get used to such. Is there a solution? Or, is this something of how the game was programmed?

As I have stated above to Omega, unless these Mods are like installing Add-ons, then I'm a tad screwed. Excuse my french, but I'm not in the slightest a big-time PC gamer. So uh....help ^^"

Mods are add-ons, its just a different word.

They are archives - typically compressed with 7zip - that you download and unpack.  And then you get additional factions and maps and tilesets and such that you can play with.

There are three versions of Glest; MegaGlest offers the best multi-player experience, and GAE offers the most features.  There are mods for GAE - such as Imperial - that contain both boats and canons.

Imperial has cannons?
Well once the MDC is updated, this shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Well, in that case, I can use them. I've used WinRaR, 7-Zip, and simple Windows Extraction Tool. Plus, I've had practice with making sure all files and folders end up in their appropriate destinations. As long as these mods and other Glest games don't threaten to crash my screen or system, I'll gladly try them out at will.

Will: For that Imperial Mod, are you saying the cannons are only for field artillery usage, or the naval guns on ships?

Hagekura: That is a beautiful looking cannon. I'll be sure to check into that Faction for certain.

ElimiNator: I didn't notice cannons being listed, so I assume it's in the actual pack. When I'm able to, I'll download it.

My thanks to the two of you ^^
