Opt-in in the unit xml for each model and particle

E.g. blacksmith blows smoke rings faster as a crescendo builds in the soundtrack

If this is possible to be done, I don't think it will be done soon. Everything else has a higher priority.
Get the Vbros': Packs 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5!

:O I wonder if this will be possible even after the merge.

Dancing Battlemages anyone?

After the Merge though one thing I'd love to see is choosing which tracks should be played durring battles, which should be played when just starting out, etcetera.

What I had in mind was the puffing of smoke in the chimneys that are signature in Imperial.

In time to the background music would really really build atmosphere.

Its details like that that are not lost on the user; it would catapult glest ahead of other games in the atmosphere regard.

Well, something such as that wouldn't really be feasible to implement. I mean if we're going to talk about the atmosphere of the game, I think something like fixing the shadows and lighting or making tilesets look more natural would be the much better option. Rather than something which is only applicable in certain cases.

Why do only one thing?

from a technical perspective, I know that the soundtrack can be input to particle emission rates and dynamic animation speed.

I have to agree with Hands here. There are dozens of things that could improve on this more, in a better way, not the least being the lighting, shadows, and water effects, so I'd say this would be a very low priority feature.

agreed.

Will, i think your idea is really cool, and it would be a massive atmosphere-boosting concept. i want to see it happen, just not now - we have bigger fish to fry.
