Error: BSOD on startup

When I start up GAE 0.3.2 on Windows XP SP3, it works perfectly. However, when I start it on vista, it crashes and I get a BSOD. Vista only crashes when I start GAE a few hours after Vista starts. It does not crash when I startup GAE immediately after logging in.

First of all, have you tried updating your drivers (for everything, not just the video card, sound card, etc). If you don't know how to do this, try Device Doctor

or here's a probable cause, you're using Vista. go with 7 if you can, it's far more stable.

in case Vista is the problem, you may just need to stick with XP

Though, windows 7 would beat both. Doubt that's the problem though, still leaning towards drivers, as windows itself is not usually the cause for something not working at all.

true, but sometimes the appropriate drivers are Win 7 only, it's really hard to know....

true, but sometimes the appropriate drivers are Win 7 only, it's really hard to know....

And the reverse, they could be Windows XP only. The best fix is still to use Device Doctor like I mentioned before, it'll make sure you have the correct drivers. Welc0me12, have you had any success yet?

I just used device doctor. Now it BSOD's even on startup, and says "a process or thread crucial to system operation has unexpectedly exited or been terminated".

What driver did you modify? Startup in safe mode and revert that driver to the oldest one you can find (or oldest stable one).
