Linux Version in CVS
« on: 13 June 2005, 14:31:03 »
little status update on the linux version:

Martinio and me have merged the codebases which can be found in the cvs at sourceforge now. The game is running nicely again for me, however I gotta check all the fixes I did to the old codebase again to make sure I don't miss some bugfixes or workarounds that I added for other systems. Also the PPC patch isn't merged in yet...

If you know how to checkout source form cvs and could give it a test, then I'd be happy about feedback!

because u can download the datafile as complete package from sourceforge.
its the same like on windows.
1. load datapackage
THEN load binfiles and unpack into data directory.

so as a consense first u unpack the data files (os independend or am i wrong MatzeB ?)
then u use the cvs
maybe if something is missing take the missing files from the Windows binary package. (ini and such)

Yes you have to manually edit your glest.ini the one shipped with the data package is win32 specific and has some odd defaults like the 32bit depth.

The fonts that you have to specify are normal X font string (for example -*-utopia-*-*-*-*-12-*-*-*-*-*-*-*

I added an example glest.ini to the cvs. It should be available in anonymous cvs in about 5 hours.
