Thats fine with me, if what your meaning is that wierd TD version, otherwise.
1) can I make the Hind
2)is it okay if the treads remain solid or should I make it like yours with all those wheels, keepin it solid is more convenient for me since I'm better at texturing it correctly but otherwise I'll do it with wheels, especially in the ASU's case :|

I'm cool with solid tracks. Yeah IT-1 is the ATGW version, with pop-up missile.

Some progress on poly reduction. Still slightly high polys but probably less of an issue. Will see in-game. This AMX-13 is relatively high poly anyway because of the missiles.

Regarding tank treads, while making them flat works well, for an added 3D depth, you could do what Apocalyptic Dawn's treads did. The "back" of the tread was flat, but the wheels were 2D circles.

Result: 785 poly in a size 2 unit with pretty good looking treads. Definitely be sure to keep your original models, though, perhaps you could release a separate "high poly" version for those with graphic cards to burn or for other purposes, such as in a video, trailer, etc.

I'm thinking we need a new city tileset with burned out houses, shops etc.

Yeah I'm thinking of using something like that in some models. Of course the Challenger 1 has the advantage of side skirts so you never would see the top of the roadwheels anyway, unlike the AMX13/30. Nice model, did you make it?

Now with flat tracks, sort of. Side-by-side these models don't look so good but poly count is much less.

Doesn't look bad either though, My main problem is making curved tracks like on the ASU.

Looks good so far, the lower poly treads are not a problem at all they look good like that as well.

I know this is very picky but is their any other color camo u could use for french /uk/ usa?  The green camo gona get quite old quickly.... I know its more realistic but still...

Btw any plans for factions such as the Vietcong, China, and North+South Korea? Or is this strictly focuses on the western front?

PS no offense but i really dont like the tank treads sound fx, its quite loud especially when there is a large number of tanks moving at once, at least reduce the volume of them...

The flash drive I kept the ASU, Hind, T-62/55, and shilka on it crashed so now I'll have to redo the models, I'll finish them though, since it didnt take me so long last time. I think Vietcong would be a nice addition but China would be a lot of copied russian stuff and so would North Korea, while south korea would be lots of american stuff. China could be fun though, waves of cheap worthless conscripts swamping a MG until the gunner runs out of ammo ;D

Yeah I kept the colours similar on all these models because I hope to use the palette to differentiate different countries.  France, generally, lighter green than others, Germany dark green-grey, British dark green and black mostly, plus cool urban camo on some types (see chieftens of BAOR). USA generally had 3-tone camo, and so on. Plus most of those models are sharing the same skin images so of course will look similar ;-)

The tank sound is my error in XML, meant to only sound when you give it a command. Will fix in future.

Anyone can add sides - France will be the base one to balance to (only because I started modeling the AMX-13 on a whim). Provided the faction is in keeping, sufficient quality and balanced....

Other sides I'm considering are Sweden and a second Warsaw pact side with alternative equipment choices to the main soviet one.

Vietnam cong, china etc are harder as they were less distinct at this time. They also lack many core unit types I suspect.

Israel, Egypt/Syria etc or even Iraq are possibles but a bit too controversial I expect.

Israel and the opposing nations could be fun since they'd pack a mix of WW2 and modern era equipment like shermans M-48's, M-60's etc from other countries. The vietcong could be very distinct, they beat the french and somewhat the americans. They'd be mostly infantry with some soviet and captured french/american tech

By the way, looking at the pictures above, the alpha parts of buildings look...wrong. What's with that?

I think alpha channel needs to be larger by 1 pixel radius, i think you are seeing a tiny bit of the background color of the texture.

I pictured Vietcong having strength in their ability to expand quickly and cheaply throughout the map (with some structure durability penalties of course). Combat focuses on cheap infantry with ability for creating traps, and limited tank selection.

Btw no more remote air controllers? I like the idea!

Finished models for the Centurion and Ferret for the British faction.

Sadly I am having trouble texturing. I recently made the full switch to Linux but there is no Paint.net equivalent. Gimp is horrible and overly complicated. Pinta is a clone of Paint.net but missing 50% of the features and is very buggy, including a transparency bug which makes it near unusable  :(

Very nice models. I know what you mean about Paint.NET, though, having never truly got the hang of using the GIMP (on a grammar nerd sidenote, the GIMP is a acronym, so should be written in all capitals, standing for the GNU Image Manipulator Program, and should be preceded by "the" in most cases), and Paint.NET has many wonderful plugins available too.

Why convert entirely to linux if you depend so heavily on at least one windows program? At least duo-boot! :P
