Tileset preview when creating a new game
« on: 2 September 2011, 12:04:07 »
There should be a preview of selected tileset. I do not remember names of my favourite tilesets, so this would be really useful. :)

I am also trying to make a screenshot for my new map, so a quick preview of the tileset would be handy.

It could just take the tile for surface 1 and show it somewhere on the screen, like below the faction image? or just the first 64x64 image in the tileset images dir - if it doesn't find one it's blank

Right, because every player can recognize a tileset based on their surface 1 texture. How well can you do? All of these are images from different tilesets:

yeah you pretty much can get a good idea of the tile set from a single tile.

What about showing a montage of the different surfaces then?

The author of the tileset could also create a screenshot with given proportions.

Maybe a preview.jpg in the main tileset folder. Set pixel size rules. If the image in not found, or the wrong size, then no preview?

Try Megaglest! Improved Engine / New factions / New tilesets / New maps / New scenarios
