mailinglist for multiplayer announcement
« on: 12 September 2011, 08:31:08 »
What about the idea of having a special mailinglist for multiplayer session announcements?
Maybe we can add an ingame option too to subscribe to the list ....

( and btw we should really announce one again on next sunday! )
Try Megaglest! Improved Engine / New factions / New tilesets / New maps / New scenarios

I'd recommend that a special 'news' channel shows in the mail game screen when you launch MG.

If MG says "big multiplayer game this Saturday!" or some other specific ad, it will get noticed and it will help addict people to the game.

we already have that in the masterserver/irc menu :-D. But maybe you are right, placing it on the base menu will be more obvious!

This can be implemented with the news module on the CMS (which can have multiple news 'categories'), for which RSS feeds are automatically created. The game should then include an RSS parser. so that it could display these news in an appealing format within the lobby. Another advantage of this is the possibility of reusing this content in other locations / services / remote sites.
