Game awards
« on: 14 September 2011, 13:24:36 »
One way to make MegaGlest more known is to take part (and at least be nominated for a category) in a game award competition.

I've looked up some awards which we may be eligible for:

[big]Independent Games Festival Awards[/big]
Rules
Entry fee: USD 95
Submissions Due: October 17th, 2011 at 11:59pm PDT

Code: [Select]
[big][url=http://www.indiegamechallenge.com/how-to-enter/]Indie Game Challenge[/url][/big]
[url=http://www.indiegamechallenge.com/official-rules/pop.php]Rules[/url]
Entry fee: USD 100
Submissions Due: October 3, 2011 at 11:59 p.m. CST

[big]IndieCade[/big]
Rules
Entry fee: USD 35 to 70
Submissions Due: TBA (early 2012)

Others:
Code: [Select]
* [url=http://www.indiepubgames.com/contest.php]IndiePub Indie Developer Contest / Independent Propeller Awards at SXSW ScreenBurn / others[/url]* Freeplay Independent Games Awards

It would be good to look up other options, I'm sure there are even more awards like these out there. For example, I assume there may be one or two specifically for libre software / open source games, too. The best way to find out about other awards is to look into which awards other well-known but comparable games have won, yet. Think of Glest, 0 A.D., Spring, Wesnoth etc.

Yes, that's a pity. But it's also totally normal for awards. And if I recall correctly, all of these awards will also shell out to the winners in every (or almost every) category.

Which of these would actually take a game as old as this (considering Glest itself was released several years ago) that was based on an already existing engine?
