This may be a stupid proposal, but on the other hand, has use. Firstly, a follow-up; as it is, GAE started with totally new version numbering, starting at 0.1, working its way up to 0.3.2, the last stable release, with version 0.4 planned as the next release. However, the preceeding zero, in my opinion, makes it sound like its more of a beta and less of a fleshed out engine. Sure, GAE may not be as multiplayer stable as MegaGlest, but it's definitely not the buggy testing ground it started as, and has several mods specifically for it.
Thus, I propose that the leading zero be bumped off. Version 0.3.2 becomes version 3.2. The upcoming 0.4 will be version 4.0. Unless there's some easy way to do it, the trac and repository could remain unchanged (easy conversion), but when releasing it, or referring to GAE, we'd cut off that first number. It's by no means a major change, and virtually unrelated to the code (just the tiny reference to version numbering would have to be changed in the source).
It would have the advantage that new players would be less likely to think that GAE is some new engine or very unstable (when in truth it predates MegaGlest by years). It wouldn't need much adaption for the community either; I've seen many instances of people accidentally bumping off the first zero anyway.
