[not a bug] Strange issue with g3d viewer and ubuntu 64
« on: 11 October 2011, 21:53:07 »
Hi,

When I launch g3d viewer I cannot see menu because it's displayed behind the main 3d view.
I get this bug on the current stable release and on the latest svn revision.

Is someone having the same bug than me?

I still get this bug when I windowed mg and try to use another program.

Thanks.

Edit by Omega: Added fixed to title and moved to proper board.

It seems to be a compiz problem or something else and I've found a solution.

I've installed compiz fusion icon and there is an option on Compiz Options menu.
I've checked Indirect rendering and the problem is solved now.

Today i launch g3dviewer and i have the same bug.
So i disable Indirect rendering and the bug disappear.

So I don't think that this problem comes from a configuration of compiz or from my 3d card.
It seems to be a ubuntu problem with compiz.

I confirm that reloading window manager resolve this problem.
I would try the new ubuntu 11.10 and report if this issue is fixed.

Hi David, while it's good to know if there are general issues with some Linux distribution (this doesn't seem to be the case here, G3D viewer works fine for me on Ubuntu 11.04), when you do, please make it obvious that they are not caused by the game, because we use this forum to get an idea of what needs yet to be fixed in MegaGlest. That's why I had labelled this thread [notabug] - what you're discussing is probably a bug, but it is not a bug in MegaGlest. If you agree that this is not a MegaGlest bug please say so or readd the [notabug] tag (or think of something else/better to indicate this issue is not caused by MegaGlest). Thank you.

Hi Tomereyn,

Currently I'm not sure at 100% that is a compiz or ubuntu problem because I didn't obserse the same issue with other 3D applications.
I'm investigating. For the moment the notabug label seems to be correct. I want to confirm it.
I think that you don't have to care with this problem for the moment.
This topic would just be helpfull for someone who have the same issue and want to fix it easily.

Thanks

Cool, and thanks for changing the label. If it later seems to actually be an issue in MegaGlest you're welcome to change the label again and post an update.

And I agree it's good to report issues others may run into, too, even when those are not specific to MegaGlest (and I appreciate that you do).

Hi,

I've finally install ubuntu 11.10.
The bug is entirely solved and i think definitely it was from ubuntu 11.04 while launching compiz at start.

All megaglest bin works perfectly (3.5.2) 2287
