[fixed] 3.5.3-beta1 takes too long to get closed
« on: 6 November 2011, 19:48:27 »
Hi guys, i dont know if this is a bug or something like that, when i close megaglest, the game instead of closing quick as normal it takes like 3 or 4 seconds. During these seconds the mouse key (the one of megaglest) gets stuck and i can see the one i use normally for my operative system.

Im on ubuntu lucid lynx 10.04 32 bit (using the beta 3.5.3).

This is not a very important thing but it is a little annoying since it didnt happen in 3.5.2.

Greetings.

This delay was requested by tomreyn (music fade on exit)

I also don't like this music fade out when leaving the game, its just annoying in my opinion and should really be changed.

In general I personal also don't like the music fade out/in when a game starts, but if people like/want it this way, its ok for me.

Try Megaglest! Improved Engine / New factions / New tilesets / New maps / New scenarios

Fading when loading a game is a nice touch. Fading when exiting, or any other time when things would be noticeably faster without it, gets to be a pain.

I like it when you have music on. It's superfluous when you have no music anyways. Looks like I skipped a discussion which would have been good to have there. Sorry.

Ok add this to glestuser.ini

ShutdownFadeSoundMilliseconds=x

where by default x is 1750 (milliseconds). Would like to hear what value should be used for application fade shutdown

Anyone care to offer advice as to what the default fade out should be in this case?

I'd say
ShutdownFadeSoundMilliseconds=1000
makes a good default.

Plus, (only) if that's quickly done, if FactorySound=None or SoundVolumeMusic=0 then ShutdownFadeSoundMilliseconds should always be 0.
