Hello,

when pausing the game for some time (longer than just a moment), the game speed is far too high ( I guess  five to ten times) after resuming. Unplayable!

Any idea to fix this? (any other idea than to avois pause ;-))

Regards
MiG

I'm trying to reproduce this. Did this happen on a game with other humans, or was this just you against some CPU players?
atibox: Ryzen 1800X (8 cores @3.6GHz), 32 GB RAM, MSI Radeon RX 580 Gaming X 8G, PCI subsystem ID [1462:3417], (Radeon RX 580 chipset, POLARIS10) @3440x1440; latest stable Ubuntu release, (open source) radeon (amdgpu) / mesa video driver
atibox (old): Core2Quad Q9400 (4 cores @2.66GHz), 8 GB RAM, XFX HD-467X-DDF2, PCI subsystem ID [1682:2931], (Radeon HD 4670, RV730 XT) @1680x1050; latest stable Ubuntu release, (open source) radeon / mesa video driver

Hello Tom,

this happened a few times, always with CPU opponents. Maybe the PC was in standby mode meanwhile.

I paused a non-network game against CPU for about two hours yesterday, and when I resumed it I didn't see such an effect, the speed was as expected. But I tested this on Linux, and without standby mode. I'll try it on a Windows 7 VM today.

I didn't get around to test this on a Windows 7 VM until today, but now I did. Just as on Linux, I'm unable to reproduce this behaviour. Please provide more information on your computer, hardware, software and resource consumption (free memory + disk space), and how to reproduce this issue.

I tested this even more in Windows today, playing a multi player game with multiple CPU (but no network slots/players). The CPU's were fighting each other and I was an observer. When I resumed the game after a long pause, it started at normal speed, then, after a second or two, got stuck for some seconds, and then continued at high speed for some more seconds, to return back to normal speed shortly after. So there is a glitch there, this shouldn't happen in a non-network game in my opinion.

MIGGer said something about standby mode...
I think this is something different than the thing tomreyn saw. I bet the system clock gets stopped/reset/recalibrated or whatever. This will confuse teh game and the speed goes mad becasue the game alsways thinks its falling behind.
