First one word about the AI: I think it is playing very good and you can have so much fun with it! Even in multiplayer we often play vs AI because its so much fun. In longer games it might be a bit dumb, but until you reach this level of playing is a long way to go
.
For the factions:
Indians have some interisting things:
for defense:
- totem ( air defense)
- beehive (strong defense building)
for attack:
-bulls/horsemen
-firearchers
-thunderbirds
strong melee units:
- upgraded(in campfire) axethrowers
- upgraded axeman
Persian: ( not so easy to play in later game!)
- very cheap ladies with good efficiency in the beginning
- strong elephants
- the snake basket is not that effective.
Genies/ladies/elephants are quite good combination because elephants are stable, genies have good range and strong attack and ladies have half range and high firing rate.
In general we have no real turtle faction, because turteling kills gameplay. I think the best factions to turtle are indian and romans. Very strong is tech and especially norsemen, but they are harder to play(in my opinion).
The japanese Mod:
As mentioned by Ishmaru the Japanese faction is also very fun to play, but maybe not so easy for a beginner because it has many ways to play it ( which is great
) and the CPU player is very strong using it .
Conclusion:
I would suggest indians for you first or romans becasue they are very strong! Play vs Magic and later vs persian. If you play vs CPU player be very careful with the settings its very strong! 0.5 might be enough for a beginner!
