AUTHORS.data.txt
« on: 2 January 2012, 23:53:31 »
It seems like all the credits for MegaGlest's data should be in docs/AUTHORS.data.txt, but I must ask, how accurate is that file, really? When making the wiki pages for the MegaPack factions, I hit a roadbump with the Egyptian faction. The authors text file states the only author is Titi, but the faction's thread has Assassin as the original creator, and lists contributions from Weedkiller and gAMeboy. Which brings me back to my question, how accurate is the authors file, and if inaccurate, what can be done to improve on that?

This file is very accurate and needs no improvements in my opinion. Everything is listed, mentioned and documented very detailed or not?
Just ideas are not copyrighted in any way! I am quite sure I made everything on my own in Egypt beside the very nice models from weedkiller ( but I think I remade some animations there too ).
I already get mad with this very detailed copyright notices, but I think there is really no need to document every tiny idea someone had on the forum.
Its true he designed the basic techtree on  piece of paper, but thats really all he did.

Ok, what about the romans then? The file credits Eliminator, who did all the models and textures, but doesn't mention -Archmage-, who did several animations and XMLs.

Just can't help but think that if a modder takes time to make a contribution to an open source game, they should at least get the credit for that work, regardless of how big it was. Not to mention CC-BY-SA kinda requires it.

I asked Elimnator already and he used no original xml content from arch's contribution in the final Romans (he wrote his own XML afterwards because balancing was completely useless and Arch also stopped contributing for quite some time by the period that it made it into mg.)

We have no desire to take away real contributions, I'm pretty sure those who contributed know who they are and would voice their concerns if they had any. Lovely how you taken this level of interest in Megaglest, I hope you continue to enjoy all of the hard work from others that went into it.

Ok, my bad. Thanks for the reply.

At any rate, the MegaPack is nearly fully complete on the wiki, then. Pages are still needed for the (modified) Tech and Magic (is there any differences in Tech between the MegaPack and Magitech, anyway?), but besides that, expansion can only be done with individual unit pages (my first priority is pages for all major factions, though, first). Hopefully I credited everyone correctly in those pages...

I remember that titi fixed bug which I noticed in Stone Golem production. The thing was that the Golem could build himself through regeneration. Titi disabled regeneration during production process.
