[done] Rain
« on: 2 February 2012, 23:38:31 »
I do not like the rain when I start the game. I think that it can annoy newbies when they launch the game for the first time - the animations may lag etc (that may discourage them from playing the game). So I would remove it by default.

What do you think?

You can already turn it off in the options menu

I can turn it off only in the game itself, but not on the screens with menu etc.

It's a client specific general setting, so the options menu is the right place to configure it.

If (and only if) the rain effect heavily drains on resources even on high profile video gear (Something I cannot test since I don't own such hardware), then I'd agree it should be disabled by default. Otherwise I'd say it's perfectly normal that you get all effects which do not cause errors by default, and can then choose to disable some if your hardware doesn't match up.

Yeah, but as I said before, the rain setting does work only in the game itself, where it turns off rain and snow. But it does not work everywhere else.

Also, the raining looks kinda depressive I think. :P

Oh looks like I misunderstood you originaly. So you want the rain effect to also vanish off the game menus when it's deactivated in glestuser.ini...

Exactly. I probably did not express myself clearly enough I think.
