[lacks info] v3.6.0.3: Crash upon Minimizing Game
« on: 24 May 2012, 17:20:54 »
* Description
  * Provide any error messages, unabbreviated and unmodified. Error message window title: "MegaGlest fatal error" Text exactly as appears, below:
(null) Exception: 0x6167654d [0x73656c47]
 []
  * What happened exactly? Game crashed when I minimized the game while in a battle.
  * What were you doing when this happened? Which exact steps need to be taken by someone else to run into the same problem? I was in a battle, then I minimized. Be in a battle, then minimize. Doesn't matter if it's online or offline.
  * Do you run any non-standard MegaGlest (a MegaGlest full conversion, a Linux distributions' build, or have you compiled it yourself?) or operating system? Nope.
  * Are you running anti-virus software and do you have a personal/host-based firewall (such as Windows firewall, ZoneAlarm etc.)? If so, which one (exact product description and version number, please)? Windows Firewall... version number? I have no idea, sorry..

* MegaGlest version
Report the exact MegaGlest version you are using: Run the game, then check the 'About' menu for the exact version number. Or, if the game won't start, change into its installation directory and run ./start_megaglest --version (on Linux) or megaglest --version (on Windows) to get it. If this does not work either then check the name of the installer file you downloaded, it also contains the version number.

* Operating system
Tell us exactly which operating system you are using: Operating system, version, platform and patchlevel. For example: Ubuntu Linux 11.04 or Windows XP Professional edition or Windows 7 Basic, all available updates installed as of Feb 22 2022. Also, is it a 32 or 64 bit bit operating system (how to tell on Linux)?. Windows 7 Home Preimum, 64 bit.

* Download location
Tell us where you downloaded MegaGlest from (exact Internet address if possible, otherwise just the name of the website) and provide the exact name of the file you downloaded! http://megaglest.org/download.html Version 3.6.03

* Logs and screen shots
Get us some log files: Enable debug logging in your glestuser.ini, using the DebugMode=True option. Also, run the game from a 'cmd.exe' prompt window (on Windows) / from a terminal window (on Linux/FreeBSD), since this will give you on-screen logs, too. Screen shots can also say more than a thousand words sometimes, so please make use of them. Here's the text in the console after the crash, below:
megaglest.exe v3.6.0.3

Thanks for your report. It's hard to read, and to guess what is part of the instructions and what your answers are, though. Can you please try to make this more readable?

I cannot reproduce this here. However, I think other (read: not all, just some) Windows users have been chatting about this before (I don't think it was reported, yet, but have not searched the forums + the sf.net tracker). So it would be good to have more reports by other people who can also reproduce this issue.

Back to you: Please reproduce this issue, too, capturing the verbose output, then make that output available.

Please also provide the exact Windows build number you have. Open the Windows Start menu, then click on the 'search' text input field and type this: winver
Then hit Enter. A new window should show up listing your exact Windows version (something looking similar to this: 7.1.1204).

Finally, does this only happen while you are ina battle? If so, what hardware do you have: CPU, RAM, video (to find out, hold down the Windows key and tap on the SysRq key, then release both - the SysRq key is normally in the top right corner of your full-size keyboard)?

Thanks.

I contacted Varlun, he responded to tell me he's no longer playing MG, so there's no interest on his part to work this out.
