Problem with Annex 3, stuck with JUMBO SCREEN SIZE!!
« on: 18 November 2012, 19:50:18 »
Hi, im having a problem with the screen size.  I downloaded Annex for my Imac Lion.  When i first opened Annex, i noticed that the screen size was square with the black bars on the sides. So i went to the settings to change the screen size as i do with all video games, to 2560 1440, well, i dont remmember if it exactly said that number, but for all video games, i set it up to 2560 1440.  But then something stupid happened, the whole entire screen went JUMBO SIZED ON ME!!! i mean, what the hell??!! So now the screen is so huge, that i couldnt get to the buttons, and because i couldnt exit the game, i had to restart the computer. So i deleted the annex game, and reinstalled it,  but for some strange reason, the screen was still JUMBO SIZED!!! So i had to restart the computer again.  So now i dont know how to change the screen size back to normal because some way some how, the screen size seems to remain even if i delete the game. Its as if the settings for the screen size are hidden somewhere in my Mac computer, but i dont knwo where.  This is just ridiculous as i dont think i ever had a screen size problem like this before, and my screen size can reach up to 2560 1440.  The Game makes it look as if some body has a screen size the size of a movie theatre screen.  Now how stupid is that?!!! So can anyone help me with this problem? your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm, sounds like you didn't delete the user folder, where settings are stored, so the screen resolution would still be kept when reinstalling the mod. Deleting the user folder would restore the default settings. However, the location of the user folder varies with the operating system. According to the wiki's INI page, the user folder for Macs will be /Users/[User name]/.megaglest (I believe the dot in front of the folder means it's a hidden folder, too). Delete that folder and run Annex again. Anyway, this would just restore the default settings. I'm afraid I have no idea what's with the strange screen issues, so this is a temporary fix.

it worked, thanks.  but its very strange that the resolution could be set up like that, as if someone had a giant computer. It just doesnt make sense. Should this be put in the bug report?

Does the same happen with MegaGlest 3.7.0? If not, this is probably not going to be an issue in upcoming Annex releases either since Annex uses the MegaGlest engine under the hood. If it also happens with MegaGlest 3.7.0 then please file a bug report against MegaGlest and provide concise instructions on how someone else with a default OS X setup and (if possible) commonly sized screen can reproduce this issue.

Thanks.

Hi BASH2003,

Sorry you had this issue, happen once to me on a windows machine but with a much earlier revision of Annex. I personally had no idea how to fix and didn't know the issue was still there. Hopefully next Megaglest version (which I will use for Annex) will cover this issue.

Did you ever install previous versions of Annex before revision 3? It may be that a setting from a previous install that could have caused issue.

Thanks for the heads up!
