Hi.
I worked on a very simular mod in the past, but stopped working.
I tried to create something like a "gold cow", a building which creates gold like a cow creates food.
The problem is: Food is a consumable recource, Gold is a static (tech) recource.
If you change Gold to consumable, you can do a "Gold Cow" which is consuming e.g. -10 Gold every 30 seconds (it will produce 10 Gold every 30 secs).
BUT:
If a Unit has a price of e.g. 100 Gold, you have to pay that price every 30 sec, too, like you have to pay the food-cost of any unit every 30 sec.
So that didn't worked the way i wanted.
The solution can be to create a "produce Gold" skill and a "produce Gold" command (like the summoning commands) and set the Gold cost of the "produce Gold" COMMAND to -10 or -100 or what ever.
But this way you have to click a button to get the Gold.
That was not the intention I had when i made my mod and some other things were not possible, too, so i stopped and decided to wait the expansion.
Maybe the expansion brings some new skills.
If not, ill start to heavily mod Glest with some additional programming.
But that will take ages............

By the Way: If you got some help from modellers it would be cool if you publish all the models you and your team created, even the unused.
I'm sure the GLEST team will publish them as "user-done" downloads.
This way upcomming mods will be much easier.
