ALLOWED_SPECIAL_KEYS is not editable on Transifex
« on: 7 June 2013, 13:45:21 »
This is a continuation of the bug report about non-printable characters at https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=9017.0

It turned out that this, as now found in the language files, cannot be edited using the Transifex web interface:
Code: [Select]
; Special Key strokes allowed for this language and font (comma delimited)
ALLOWED_SPECIAL_KEYS=page down

Original post (by Filux):

Since the topic is still here I'll throw in a bit of information.

The variable has not on Transifex yet. When you test translation, the game of course uses a file from Transifex and letter doesn't work.

Transifex has it, but the only way to see it seem to be to download the file. :-(

I see now
variable is empty ... and is unchangeable

test consisted in:
downloaded file > modifed file > sent to transifex > downloaded again > var is still empty
Quote
; Special Key strokes allowed for this language and font (comma delimited)
ALLOWED_SPECIAL_KEYS=

Softcoder and I asked about it on the Transifex IRC channel, but nobody able to answer it was around, and it was suggested that a support ticket should be filed.

Quote from: irc://irc.freenode.net/transifex
<tomreyn> hi, we've got ini style files which we localize with transifex. One of the keys there is empty but should be non-empty in a localization. however, it's not even shown on the translation interface. Searching the key doesn't find it. However, when you download either the source language file or the translation, you see it's there.
<tomreyn> is this expected behavior?

<softcoder> hello?
<softcoder> anyone here?
<softcoder> i'm a dev with megaglest
<softcoder> https://www.transifex.com/projects/p/megaglest/resource/main-language-file/l/en/view/
<softcoder> for some reason i'm not seeing a new string i added days ago
<softcoder> its in the sourceforge svn report which is connected to this file
<softcoder> https://megaglest.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/megaglest/trunk/data/glest_game/data/lang/english.lng
<softcoder> notice the very last entry
<softcoder> ALLOWED_SPECIAL_KEYS=
<softcoder> but the online view on transifex isn't showing that entry
<softcoder> why?
<limgad> softcoder: you'd be better off opening a ticket with support
<softcoder> but i think its something that is maybe normal
<softcoder> in english i have that empty value
<softcoder> in polish i want it to be:
<softcoder> ALLOWED_SPECIAL_KEYS=page down
<softcoder> will that work ?
<limgad> i'm not really sure. That's why asking the support would be the safest bet

Since we're on the free plan, this would mean we'd have to post a public support request.

Update:
Softcoder seems to have later worked around this limitation by allowing to set ALLOWED_SPECIAL_KEYS=none in English which should make it "translatable" for all other languages using the Transifex web interface now.

hehe
I will add some interesting information about Transifex because you probably don't know it.

A few days ago, something changed in the website's engine.

- Now I see the menu and everything other in Polish (previously in English)
- (looks like) Since then I can't unlock a locked file for translation (probably lock will disappear only after the expiry of the time, I hope :P)
- Shortly after the engine change I noticed that it was uploaded some backup because some of my corrections was lost (already I corrected this again)

Summarizing:
They have some problems with the site's service, and now might get a lot of these reports.

It looks like it's working well with Transifex too :)
Tested a moment ago.
