character moves to same spot no matter where i click
« on: 27 July 2013, 00:02:26 »
I just installed the game. I'm using the latest stable version of Debian.

I ran the game in the default resolution and also in 1920x1080 and experienced the issue in both.

When I click on one of my characters (it doesn't matter which one, they all do it) then I right click on the screen to make them move to that spot, no matter where I right click on the screen they always move to the bottom center of the screen. The one exception is when I right click on the gold rocks, they will move there and start mining them. However, no matter where else I click they always move to the bottom center of the screen. When I right click on the screen with a character selected, the arrow-line thing shows that I clicked on the bottom middle of the screen.

When I click on a building and tell it where to make new characters move to, they all go to the bottom middle of the screen.

This is definitely a bug and it is so bad that I cannot play the game.

That's likely a mesa bug, you are probably using one of the open source graphics drivers (e.g. Intel iXXX, AMD/ATI radeon rXXX, NVidia nouveau) and mesa 9.0.x. You can work around this by choosing one of the other unit selection options on the options menu (probably color picking). You may need to use MegaGlest 3.8.0 beta1 to make this work reliably.

If, for some reason, this doesn't help (I doubt it, please report back then), some more options to try are listed on the FAQ at

Good luck.
