This looks like a great game. New players thoughts on it.

Hey all. I am a starcraft 2 player (diamond league zerg if someone is familiar) and I just found this game and thought to give some feedback/opinions on it. First of all, this looks amazing for a free open source game. I think this game has potential to go pretty far, even on competitive side. I in no means want to complain and maybe some of these things I talk about are intended but just thought to share my feelings of the game. (Not sure does this belong to the feature requests but thought the put it here because this is bit more general post. Move if necessary).

First I'd like to discuss bit about the speed of the game. I find it little bit sluggish/slow. The UI responds with slight delay when I as an example start training a unit. Also the units maybe accelerate/turn bit too slow, making moving your forces bit awkward. (I have to try this again when I get my better computer at my hand. Currently only played on slightly slow laptop). The game speed is adjustable with +/- but it happens in too big steps. 2x is too fast and I think something like 1.2-1.4 would be optimal. Would need to test. And the speed is of course a preference but if the slugginess and awkwardness of movement can be fixed to more smoother experience there probably ain't need to increase the speed from what it is now.

There is some sort of "reaction time" when hovering over stop, which is this delay after giving command? Or is it just delay when pressing stop? Does this have to do with the feel of awkward delay when trying to control units, especially workers? I think this delay should be removed. I don't know why there would be one. Maybe to add realism but I think it costs too much in the flexibility and fluidity of control and makes microing units a lot harder and just more awkward.

Camera speed could be adjustable. I find it really slow to scroll with arrow keys or with mouse at the edges of screen. Control groups and map help with this a but still those could be 2.5-3x faster.

Hotkeys are missing for training units/workers and making upgrades and buildings or am I just not finding them? It is slow to always go click on them with your mouse.

When having multiple summoners selected with Magic race, when I click to summon Daemons (or any other unit), works well and all the summoners start summoning. But when I do not have enough money and let's say 2 out of 3 start summoning, I wait for a while to get to that 50 gold. When I have it, I click the summon button again while still having the 3 of them selected, it gives the order to one already summoning and not to the one idle. This is pretty annoying making you have to always click the one idle and summon with it so that it doesn't get qued to one already summoning. I don't know if this problem is present with other races with similar mechanics. Probably is.

Hope this doesn't seem too negative post and if some of these are already covered (tried to find), I'm sorry to repost about it. I probably could try to contribute to this game with helping to balance or give ideas or suggestions. I could probably write some guides for beginners to the wiki once I get more known to this game. Didn't find any build orders or basics guide to tactics and what units to build against what, when to attack, mechanics, etc. I also know some c++ but I'm not sure if I know it enough to be able to help in that area, though I would love to, since I like programming. Keep up the good work and probably see you guys online playing this!

Thanks for sharing your first impression on MegaGlest. Such reports are very valuable because someone who is working on the game on a regular basis cannot tell what the most crucial issues and show stoppers for new players are.

About what to spend time on next: I think writing the guides you discussed could help other players a lot.
