3.9.1 Installation for Ubuntu.
« on: 20 January 2014, 01:06:23 »
I have Ubuntu 13.10 and installed new version with .run file.

But i believe that many users of ubuntu  will have some difficulties installing it from Here :  http://megaglest.org/linux-packages.html
and clicking to   "install the MegaGlest packages by clicking here"

When i clicked on this, a window opened with this text:  This Links needs to be opened with an application. Please browse the application...."

So i did not find any application , because i do not know which one should open it, neither now where to find it.

On a standard Ubuntu install, clicking this link will start  software center which then display information about the "megaglest" package. Since this does not seem to work for you, I assume you made some modifications to your system?

I dont know why but i have the same problem now....

The programm you have to use is located here:
Code: [Select]
/usr/bin/apturl
but the package is only version 3.6.0.3

EDIT:
And @tomreyn: no its not the software center which is started. Its apturl.

I think apturl is the URL handler which then invokes whichever application you have configured to receive the information on the package you wish to install. In my case, and I assume by default on current Ubuntu versions, that's Software Center. On Firefox this will, however, not work if you have the "Ubuntu Firefox Modifications" disabled, since this introduces support for the apt: protocol scheme.
