cheat codes needed or someway to make it easy for newbie
« on: 30 October 2005, 12:09:15 »
Hi there,
It's frustating gameplay as one doesn't know all the hotkeys, all the combos & all the strategies to win. So atleast the 1st game should be a newbie game where the player interacts with his surroundings, understands what makes what work, For e.g. I was reading & there is something about walls, now this is an idea or already implemented somewhere, don't know.
In case anybody has any pointers to the cheat codes so I can interact with the enemy while at the same time interact with the environment so know where what is there to be seen or played with. Once become more familiar/comfortable then can move little higher. What do u guys think?

I agree.  While the mechanics of the game are nothing new, the gameplay itself takes a little bit of time to get the hang of.

Perhaps a practice map could be made where the player could expirement unharrassed.

cheats ruin many games ... but make other game very fun ...... i think if they ever put a campain in and have a tutorial that would be enough for a newbie...... and in the configureations there is an option to select if its your first time or not..... i haven't had a look at it but i know it there

Cheating is easy in Glest, you can just modify any xml file to give your units more HP, attack or whatever you want.

Indeed.  Personally, my inclinations are that even on hard the game is too easy (which is no offense, programming a human-level AI is an impossible feat), although going against a number of them can be quite a task.

But that didn't stop me from having some fun with making the cows shoot one-shot-kill fireballs. :)

You are absolutely right, once you know a few tricks is quite easy to beat the AI, even in the ultra level (as it is in every RTS I've ever played)

Just go to swordman.xml, open it with notepad and replace <max-hp value="500" regeneration="0"/>by <max-hp value="10000" regeneration="0"/>. That way you will have 10000 HP swordmans.
