Balance-pack
« on: 10 February 2015, 13:34:08 »
So I like playing MG and playing other packs that exist like east vs mega ultrapack or vbros packs. The thing is that most of the new factions they add are too powerfull (or weak). So I thought of creating one pack that will balance all factions that we can find.

I tried to do it solo but abandoned the "project" becouse it was too hard. So if you like to help me with finding and balancing factions conntact me on my email piotrbed10@wp.pl or in this post.

Currently I'm planing to create a pack of:
  • all MegaGlest factions
  • japanese
  • Ming Dynasty
  • Elves
  • Dwarves
  • Greeks

For now ;D Yes I'm planning to add as many factions as I can. (sounds like huge pack)

Write if you like the project and if you like to help.

It's not a bad idea, but I want to notice that:
Currently released Japanese version (v0.89) is a fairly unfinished and I will add a lot of changes about it, includes some new units/buildings and so on, Thus balance will changes.
I don't oppose to this plan, but keep in mind this. Good Luck.

And keep in mind the licenses, as japanese uses another license, it will be hard to put it into one package with the other techs. CC-BY-SA and CC-BY-SA-NC are not compatible and cannot be mixed.
Try Megaglest! Improved Engine / New factions / New tilesets / New maps / New scenarios

Bitte herr, I've heard enough of it about lincense issues! :O even though I respect that how you care about it as main developer of the MG.
Obviously this plan will not go for commercial uses, or even can't be achieved. I allow him to use my mod, isn't it enough? or The CC license takes over my will? Seriously It seems to me you guys are trapped in a cage of lincense issues... :'(

I live in germany and here you instantly get in contact with lawyers with every wrong license issue, even if its only for private use. That teached me to be very careful and picky with this.
But we are getting really offtopic , so we should switch over to the licenese thread with this.

If I'm right licensed are only single files. Not whole pack.

There might be little problem with balance-pack.xml but rest are good.

Magister is spot on. Licensing is per file. So you just have to have an AUTHORS file or similar explaining the licensing of each file. The faction XML is a wee bit unclear because it would presumably be a derivative of several mods (since you need to have attack/armour types from several factions). But that's pretty minor. It's a low effort file that's not worth making a fuss about. Could resolve it by asking the more restrictive license mod-makers for permission (all licenses can be overridden with permission). Or just use it anyway. Nobody's sending C&Ds over the faction XML.
