Hi everyone,
i want to create another steampunk MOD but one which focuses more on heavy tech units.
This is how fare i made it until now:
Sadly i suck at texturework, but since im on my own this will have to work  :P



- please submit units you would like to see.
- any other comment is good

To play it use it as an faction in megapack tech tree.

I especially like the flamethrower unit. Reminds me of a big daddy from Bioshock.

The size of head/body,arm,legs do not really fit in your models and by this they look a bit weird.
To correct this I suggest to put a photo of a  real human in the background of blender. Then resize and stretch the model so it fits to the photo. The result will look a lot better.

If you want to improve the textures of your units, try to use snippets of photos to texture them. A good source for this is Burningwell.org, duion.com and less texture specific, but with really tons of photos: pixabay.com. All those only offer public domain pictures so you get no hazard with licenses.

weedkiller you don't "suck at texture work". you just have your own style ;). just joking. but they honestly do not look that bad.
My first Tilseset: SPRING :) (included in Megaglest )

Secret Hint: To play online join the IRC #megaglest-lobby on freenode which is the lobby chat ingame. So you can chat with or wait for people in the lobby without running megaglest all the time.

looks great. You can use more Vertices at the ballon i think. The computers got better today. Around 500 shouldn't make any problems.

the dreadnought has ~500 faces , with subsurf on ballon its about 1000.. perhaps this is ok, one will have to test.

the wheels will rotate on move, but does anyone know how to animate uvs? than i could move the tracks.

the Ebike, it will shoot bolts

You can't animate UVs, to animate treads you will need to make each link it's own mesh and animate them separately. This is how tanks are done in the Annex mod.

some feedback on your models love your bike, tank is good, but the wheels on tank (Or Gears?) looks painted on. I would recommend modeling that differently.

i found that in newest blender you can animate uv (anim-all plugin), but g3d doesnt seem to support it.
nevertheless Ishmaru's technique looks even better  8)
so here is my try:

Gave it a test play today. You have some interesting unit ideas, and some good particles.

-I think your airship design is weak compared to the other units.  The balloon is to small to support its weight, and I think cannons would look better housed inside the hull or a turret rather than a free standing gun. Also overall there should be more details, windows, randomly placed armor plates, propellers, flags, rope etc.

-Tanks look good by themselves, but are far to tiny compared to infantry, dino's, or even the bike unit. I know its hard to scale units properly and have them function in the game but the design is very sleek, perhaps bulking tank up more may look better. Also other units have some nice decals maybe the tank could have painted decorations as well.

-PS Tank cannot shoot air units, but really appears to me that it should, having a minigun.

-Structures are your weakest designs. Very low poly and all share similar textures. Being so large on screen generally means you want to show more decals, to nost waste space. Add some gears, pipes, mechanical devices, and other appendages to really make the building look fantastic.
