installers to test
« on: 7 March 2017, 00:51:46 »
we are preparing a new release and we need testers for these installers:

Linux: http://snapshots.megaglest.org/linux/MegaGlest-Installer-3.13-dev_x86_64_linux.run
Windows: http://snapshots.megaglest.org/windows/MegaGlest-Installer-3.13-dev_windows_64bit.exe

Do things/install work for you?
Does editor/g3dviewer start up too for you ?

I got a chance to test on Win 10 (64).

Here are my comments:

Logged in as an unprivileged user, I right clicked on the MG installer, then chose "run as administrator".

After asking, the installer removed my previous installation of 3.12 as expected.

At the prompt asking if I want to visit the MG web site, I chose yes. That's when I ran into a nuisance-type problem; not an MG bug, but a Windows bug that could affect MG users installing MG.

This window popped up. You'll see from the screenshot that the "ok" button is greyed out. I clicked stuff, but couldn't get rid of it, or move to the side.

I had a couple prompts remaining to complete the installation. I clicked "yes" on one box, although I couldn't read what it said, because of the accursed window shown in the screenshot.

I managed to finish the installation, and start MG. The accursed window disappeared.

While changing a few MG options, the accursed window popped up again, and I couldn't close it.

I chose not to kill it from task manager, but instead, log out and back in again.

I couldn't find any MG shortcuts in my start menu; I navigated to the installation directory and started them from there. Did I miss a prompt during installation asking me if shortcuts should be added?

All 3 started for me.

I changed a few options. I set brightness to 2.00, saved, exited.

When I ran MG again, and arrived at the main menu, the brightness was as 2.00, but only for less than 1 second. It *visually* reverted back to the default. I went into options and saw that it was still set at 2.00, although *visually* it was at 1.00. On the brightness option, I clicked the right arrow and the brightness went to 2.10 as expected.

titi... don't ever make me boot to Windows again. :P

No problems on Windows 7.
