a really big wish I have is this:
EXTENSIVE EMPIRE BUILDING:
What I mean by this is, everyone starts out nutral and with the standard little castle/base and a few units, but they can eventually build up a castle and upgrade it/customize it so eventually you have your entire kingdom held within castle walls, which could have guards patrolling on the top of the walls and such.
as for the nutrality part, you could send out a special unit called a "negotiator" or something like that to go out to another town and ask to speak to the king to try to establish some sort of relationship, weather it be by trade of goods or services. If the king accepts, they become your ally and will come to your aid if you are attacked, if he denies your request, you simply remain nutral. You would be able to attack them at any point, weather you are allies or not, but you would of course have to deal with the consequences.

To partner with this idea, it would also be great if all the maps were somehow combined into one, HUGE map. then when you start a new game, you would manually choose where you want your people to start their new kingdom, and the AI would also manually choose someplace slightly further away from you. This type of game would be more like a campaign where you could save your progress and keep playing untill you eventually either rule the whole kingdom, or die trying.

I know this sounds extensive, and would probably be kind of hard to program, but I just want to get the idea out in the open, and if people like this, I actually have ideas that could go even further beyond this (such as assasinating a rival king and taking his place on the throne).

so what do you guys think? I dont even know if Glest is still being worked on, but if it is, I think this would be a great way to make it bolder than ever, and as a result, MUCH more people would play it and tell their friends

Well, that would take a lot of effort and time to program. You can tell right now updates don't come very quickly, so that would be asking a lot. They're good ideas and would be fun to see them implemented, but in essence, your asking 1 person to do the work of dozens and hundreds of people when developing a game of that much detail.

sure, this all would be ideal, but look at glest as of now. Tech can build what, 6 buildings total? there is hardly any depth,  or versatility in the game, but it is growing. it still has a long way to go.
