Making New Units By Copying and Pasting-

this is simple all you have to do is go into your unit section of your glest folder located in the tech folder D:/Glestv3.0/tech/faction/magic/unit/..
or w/e yours is anyways go into the unit folder look for the unit you want
and copy it to yor desktop or something then rename it for instance

i choose archer --> to desktop -->rename to ranger -->put back into the unit folder

(make sure you rename the xml file too)

and there you have it.....

o and make sure you don't leave the image path and animation from the one you copied

Making New Units By Creating New .G3D Files

umm this i sorta complex you need a program to help you
i forgot wich one tho anyways i'll edit this once i get it.....

Making New Units By Creating New Texture

this is the most easiest i think all you need is a expensive art program
(by expensive i mean something like photoshop or photoimpression you don't have to buy a art program but there r few free art prg that lets you change the texture)

anyways once you open the file just change the color and clothes within the lines of the drawings

and save it over the file you open but make sure you made back ups...

also does anyone know where i can upload the stuff i made?i have over 50 music files and sound effects for the game also new units and maps

I recommend paint.net for windows, and GIMP for linux

http://http://www.getpaint.net/download.html#Download
Get GIMP with apt/emerge/rpm/<insert other program here>

SuicideBomber

This is exactly what it is...making a unit that explodes when a enemy comes near........

yes i i just thought it was a cool idea and it helps out if your playing glest and the enemy destroys most of your units causing you to have to rebuild again then these guys are a good help to delay your enmies movement giving you the time you need to rebuild again

ok anyways first you need a unit i suggest you copy and paste since this is practice but if you wanna do otherwise fine get you unit and go into the xml file click on HP change the hp to something low so that itis ideal that they will die during the bombing change the armor too

now for the part that makes em explode at exactly the time the enemy is in there sight

(forgot name of the text)

just go into there move speed and make it superfast i do mean faster then S1000/F1000 its has to be around S9000/F9000 (sounds like guns  :O )

now for the attack you have to make the attack high like 2k dmg or for my game its 5k you can make the dmg low if you wanna put like a upgrade or something like for exm: "Upgrade_Bomber_Shells".

now go download or make a explosion effect you can use archmage particles

now you have a suicide bomber when he sees a opponent he automaticaly run to him and explode also do not pack them in your base
results could be fatal

Note: (its best to make a new armor set for your buildings for exm:"building(s)"

Tips & Tricks

How To Edit A XML File-

Code: [Select]
easy...right-click it and select notepad.
How To Make ArchMage Teleport Skill-

Code: [Select]
damn i forgot i will tell how once i can find my stuff.
if you want screenshots you can just tell me and i'll get em

Particles-

Code: [Select]
Getting tired of those old particles? Well now you can make more as fast as you can find images on the internet    cause thats just what we are gonna do go into your internet look for some cool images it be a picture of anything even a potrait of a president but don't do tat it will llook crappy

ok once you get a potrait or image load up your art program....if you don't have one read the above it list some of the ones that have a resizer

ok get your image and resize it to [b]32x32 24-BMP[/b] Then save it(i mean save it as a 24-bitmap)

rename the file or replace it with the existing unit particles
