Some Suggestions
« on: 10 July 2008, 03:11:52 »
Ok, so i was thinking of some of the suggestions, maybe some are done, i dont really know, so, please reply.

Suggestions:
1. Ok first of all, i think that there should be a login screen, and when you log in w/ ur username, you have a choice of Single Player or multiplayer. Then if you click multiplayer, you get directed to a Lobby; I will probably get somekind of design of the lobby in a bit.(more to add)
2. There should be more emphasis on mulitplayer rather than single player, many RTS gamers play online against other people for fun.
3. The design of the controls for peasants and other stuctures are too small, there should be like a Bar on the bottom taking, i dont know, about 15% of the screen, and if you click on a peasent, it shows the health and the options on the side.
4. The mouse movement for the game, is somehow uncomfortable, i dont know why, but its too stiff? i think.
5. There should be rating for number of wins/losses, and a military ranking for them,

I think that this shall improve the gaming and it will attract more players and so forth,

Reply what you think, thanks[/b]

1. Don't agree with the log on screen, but like the lobby
2. Maybe
3. why? It has stuff on the side (HP, 15% etc)
4. Play in windowed, you use your normal mouse at normal speed as a guide and its more accurate.
5. Agreed on that one brother!

yea, well i really dont like it on the side because it is too small and hard to click if the mouse is bad, and when you gather all ur troops, you should see the health of each one, on the bottom, not the top..

i like single player game in fact just because of the online thing of the curent version i wont have it. i am using glest version 2.01. When you are in a lobby or playing on line your computer is at risk like chat rooms. The right hacker can steel information plant a virus or worm or even cause your cpu to over heat and burn up with the right virus. Anytime you have your computer that open to play games on line you are a asking for some lousy hacker to screw your computer up. And forget about firewalls most online games tell you you must turn them off. So you are wide open

uhh... thats y u get a personal firewall; THE Only reason people like to play RTS games is for ONLINE uses, Playing single player is NOT fun
Thats why only a hand full of people play this game, and i SAID you can have an option of single player OR multiplayer

personal firewall useally will slow down your conection just enough to have a bad lag in the game in order to advoid this they tell you to turn off the firewall then you are at risk. Plus if you tweak Glest as I have you will get more chalenge from the AI than most people

Here is the problem the person you are playing may be a hacker so you are telling your personal firewall let everything from the online game in including any virus he wants to send you in the download

in fact he could affact all the computers hooked up by going to the main lobby

he sends a virus in the singal upload to the server then it sends it to all of the computers hooked to the sever while he logs off so his or hers don't be affected

yea, thats y i said login screen, for username

and M some people would take that risk, everything has a risk, and if you are that scared get scans and protectors, maybe glest should get a virus protecter too

I would like an in-game lobby but for that we'll need some kind of client/server interface and a 24/7 server hosting. both can be done, but I never did any network interface in C++.

YMMD *lol*
never read so a damn funny text *rofl*
damn you are funny ;)

Else...there is no reason: any linux/BSD/Unix based system has all ports closed by default, the ports are only opened if you start a program on the PC that is opening a port.

And such things like overheating the CPU by overclocking is not possible anymore :)

IF YOU believe your router can't be got by you are a fool banks have routers and with the right hacker they will be very small problem. I have a firnd who know almost everything about computers and he says true routers will protect you about 98 precent of the time there are ways around the firewall in them

first of all when you are on the net you aren't at one place for an hour or more. Second anyone who has any brains don't leave there computer with the browser hooked to the net plus when on the net there is a mimamal amount of information coming from a webpage and it gives a anti-virus program a chance to react but at a game sight in order not to have a large lag in the game information is flowing at high speed faster than a normal anti-virus can detete so the risk of a virus or worm or trojin is much higher plus everyday hackers are coming up with new virus and worms and until your anti-virus data base has that information to look for it it can't so a hacker who wants to try out his or hers new virus has a great oppitunity on online chat and online gaming sights
