Glest Videos
« on: 24 December 2007, 20:11:20 »
Hello,

We will be posting links to Glest videos that have been uploaded to YouTube, either by the Glest Team or other people.

Glest Video - Glest video made by tucho.

Magic Rush - Video showing how to rush a Tech AI using the Magic faction.

Glest Life 2 - Video showing half life 2 mod for Glest.

You can make your own videos using CamStudio which is free, or Camtasia which has a free trial and can also record audio.

(update by titi:)
More videos can be found in the glest wiki!
Linux users can use glc to record glest videos. Mencoder is recommended to recode it to a useful format.

for linux users there's a command called recordmydesktop which can be used  for screencasting. It saves in ogg, but I'm not sure if it records the sound though.

I had a lot of difficulty recording Glest on Linux when I was doing my school project. I ended up using a trial version of SnagIt on Windows. The video is here which is a mix of mods recorded by me and other people.

Great video, I wonder if you could upload it to youtube too, so more people would see it.

TipCam is another video program for Windows XP and Vista. I'm not sure if it works for 3d games.

Nobodies posted here for a long time, but I think I'll add a funny video. It shows what happens when a necromancer (my own version from ancient tech tree) runs the 100M relay!

Done. Google Video and Youtube. Someone rate it!

Scary, right now, google video is flooded with videos about the Greyhound bus beheading. Scarier, that happened only 300 km from me. I'm never gonna sleep! :O

Cam Studio is pretty good. Just set the region (ie: window or a specific area) then hit record. Stop when done the video. Once you stop it, a save dialogue comes up. It's quite easy. Also there's a handy thing called the instruction manual that came with it (click the button that says help). Might want to read that. ::)

I don't think it's associated with SST and there is no download available for it that I can find. https://forum.megaglest.org/index.php?topic=1296.0

Glest video using linux!
« Reply #19 on: 19 October 2009, 16:48:22 »
I made my first working glest video yesterday using linux!

this is what you need:
http://nullkey.ath.cx/projects/glc
( and mencoder to recode to something smaller :) )

And you will need a lot of free diskspace too!
See my video, this one needed 3,2 GB to record!

Most capture software has issues capturing openGL and DirectX output because of the way it's written to the screen. I understand that "Fraps" is good for that sort of thing. I've not tried my CamStudio, but it worked in Blender3D (which is openGL).

No, I'm pretty sure Valve finished it. I even recall playing it. In fact, I remember PAYING for it. Sure it took a while to make...
